Shun the non-believers!
Today, I contacted Blilling Support helpline to have a confirmation about Monk's eligiblity regarding the Recruit-a-Friend referral system. Guess what? They confirmed everything Zarhym posted.
A few days ago, many people questioned whether they'd be able to get a Level 80 Monk via the Scroll of Resurrection system straight away on launch day. This was officially declined by Blizzard on the official forums via a Scroll of Resurrection update on their blog.
"Players who receive a Scroll of Resurrection will not be able to apply rewards (e.g. boost to level 80) to monk characters."
However an unexpected blue post arrived regarding the RaF system, claiming that monks will indeed not be excluded from the RaF bonuses.
"We're not making any changes to the way RaF bonuses function, which means monks won't be excluded from receiving the benefits of RaF when Mists of Pandaria is released."
So what's the deal?
Using Recruit-a-Friend referral system you either recruit yourself and level charaacters via dualboxing, using let's say isboxer, or you'll recruit your friend.
You need to level up two level characters to level 80, meaning that you need to buy the Battle Chest $19.99 and Wrath of the Lich King $19.99 off the Blizzard Store
With the RaF, you and your linked friend gain triple the XP from questing and mob killing.
Every two levels the recruited character can grant the veteran character a level, meaning at level 80 you'll be able to grant 40 levels. If you have two 80s you'll instantly have a level 80 monk on launch day.
Then, you'll create a new monk character, have the recruited player to invite you to the party. He can then, click on your portrait and select Grant a Level. Note that certain restrictions apply. You cannot grant levels to a character, which is higher level than you.
Note that you cannot grant monk the desired levels unless he has chosen a faction.
Many european players feel discriminated and are arguing on the forums that certain countries are not eligible for RaF due to legal shenanigans so they cannot get their monk this way.
I just hope Blizz won't change their mind anytime soon, because I already bought an additional pair of keys to dualbox my character and get a level 80 monk as a reward.
We'll see how this ends up and if you're trying to achieve realm first level 90 then good luck!
