ArenaNet ticked a lot of people off with their email, which basically says they got a lot of beta signups, and then preceded to say you had to do this to view their video:

Yup, you had to like them on facebook to see the video. Now I can understand some people getting upset over this because not everyone has a facebook, and no one's going to sign up for a facebook just to see a video. But a lot of mmo companies do this so I didn't think it was the HUGE deal that people made it out to be.

I think it was a huge a deal because ArenaNet is held to higher expectations than a lot of other mmo companies because of the great job they do and their clean track record. I still think they should have provided the option for players to see this video on youtube instead of having to like them on facebook, and then said something like, "and like us on facebook to recieve the latest updates and news annoucements faster." This is what other mmo companies usually do.

Their email title, "A Special Thank You From ArenaNet," probably made some people even more upset when they saw they had to like Guild Wars 2 on facebook to even recieve their thank you!

What do you guys think? Do you think ArenaNet went over the line with this email, or do you think people are just overreacting?
