Jumpgate Pre Beta QA wtf...

Ok, so earlier this evening was a pre-beta Jumpgate QA session on IRC where some pre-selected questions from the past week were put to the devs for them to answer honestly and truthfully. Now the event was good, informative, but there were some 'wtf' questions that got me. I'll give you some examples of the ones that really I have no clue why someone would ask pre-beta...

Will the lateral thrusters take away from the power of the main thrust, and how is agile development working out for this type of an app?

There are so many things wrong I can't really be bothered to list them. In a nutshell, why do you need to know if a lateral thruster will take away power from the main thrust? In everything I have come across in all my life, the only thing that could possibly relate to this is with the F1. Does having this mean I am going to change my mind about the game? Safe bet to say that’s not going to happen. And what’s with the additional question, going from game physics to development agility.

Is there Friendly Fire?

Its space... it’s big, and there are no RL physical laws about who you can shoot. Unless your ship starts talking to you saying 'I’m afraid I can't do that", common sense could have answered that. Oh, the answer was insane. We have it turned off. Sorry, that just makes it silly - Where’s the fun if you can't shoot your own team-mate who stole all your mined ore? Or nabbed your kill? Hell, what about training?

Still, Jumpgate Evolution looks to be a good game. With Beta keys being released (5 through the QA session) its safe to say their gearing up for the private beta. Will it be as good as JumpGate, or have they turned it down so much, entering a market that is so saturated, they won’t have a cat’s change in… space? Could it be the next Elite, EVE-Online, or crashed out Earth and Beyond? Only time will tell – guess I’m not going to be the first to tell you, I didn’t win a beta key :(

NB: I mean no offence to anyone who reads this, or to the questioners. All these comments are my personal opinions, which no one really cares about, so why should you?
