Those who have paid attention to online FPS games outside of the US have undoubtedly heard of the popular Korean title, "Sudden Attack." Originally released in 2005, "Sudden Attack" is the most-played FPS title in Korea, with over 100 weeks on the game charts.
Now, nearly four years after its Asian release, "Sudden Attack" will be coming to North America, with closed beta beginning today.
Like "Counter-Strike," "Sudden Attack" pits two teams of players against one another in tactical FPS combat situations. Obviously there are numerous guns and maps, but one thing "Sudden Attack" boasts that many FPS titles don't (online or otherwise) is underwater combat, with muffled sounds, an oxygen bar, etc.
Whether or not the game will (or can) succeed in the US remains to be seen; there are an awful lot of "Counter-Strike"-like games out there, after all. But with it being free, it's worth at least a try before you write it off.
To find out how to sign up for the closed beta, or to get more info on the game, check out the official "Sudden Attack" website.
