Dark souls 1.0.4 fixes RoF and TWoP
Category: Dark souls Game: Posted on Nov 15, 2011 12:51 am 509Views 0CommentsSo, When dark souls came out, it had an item called ring of fog (if you havent played dark souls, it is an item that lets you become near-invisible, and you cant lock onto target. The item is a tad over powered, and is probably the most abused item in the game. It makes backstabbing luck/lag based instead of skill based, and RoF makes mages the next thing to useless. I personally dont have anything against ring of fog if it is used by someone whos, for example, playing a ninja like character wearing 2 claws as weapons. But when someone who wears heaviest armor in the game uses RoF, it just doesnt look cool, and is overall stupid. So how is fromsoftware going to nerf RoF? Making it possible to lock on into RoF users. May not sound like much, but makes the ring more of a suprise tool, rather than direct attack item.
TWoP (tranguil walk of peace) on the other hand only makes moving near impossible, slowing you to the point of walking, and you cannot roll, however the other payer can walk and roll normally. Now imagine if someone with heavy armor, and walks slowly (A.K.A a turtle) and casts this spell, you on the other hand have light armor, and after that, you cant outspeed the heavy armor user. That is still (in my opinion) fair using of TWoP. Then there are people with lightest armor, and cast this spell and outspeed you 6-0, So if you get caught in the effect of TWoP you are basically dead. Now they make it so that you make the "mid roll" (the roll that isnt slow, but isnt fast), meaning you can escape the effect, or fight in it.
Overall the patch 1.0.4 makes the game more balanced, but it WILL ruin some builds that center around either item, or both. Also the patch nerfs lightning upgrade route and buffs normal route. Buffs scaling of some weapons at higher levels of basic upgrade route (Uchigatana +15 for example will get dex scaling buffed to A from B) Most of the info on upcoming patch 1.0.4 can be found from darksouls.wikidot.com/game-patches
