Tribes: Ascend accepting beta applications

Have you been waiting on a new Tribes game? Or maybe you’re just interested in Hi-Rez Studios new game? Well, nomatter which group you belong too, this news should interest you. Today, Hi-Rez Studios has announced that their new game, Tribes: Ascend will begin closed beta in the next few weeks, even better, they’re now accepting applications for this phase on the Tribes: Acended website.  According to the press news on this they will be, “granting access to thousands of hand-selected players worldwide” so best sign up now if you want to try to get in.

For those who haven’t been following the game, it’s pretty much a fast-paced multiplayer shooter with jetpacks. Which if the fast-paced shooter bit didn’t sell you, the jetpacks bit should. Graphically, the game is fairly attractive, and has at least one well drawn map from what we can see in the main trailer. If none of those things sold you, then maybe this will, the game will be Free-to-Play. So for you shooter fans who are still playing those generic shooter games that looks like they got cranked out of the late 90s, this may be a good time to upgrade to a different free shooter.  

The bad news? While it is going to be f2p (yay), there is no indication on how the micro transactions will play out. (boo) So with this blindfold still covering our eyes, we are yet to be able to accurately determine if this will be more of a success than a fail. But being that at least in my opinion, they have shown themselves to be a good company so far, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that this may end up being a good game.
