Liking Varus so far.

So like many who waited in anticipation for the character to come out, I saved up for and bought him as well. Unlike many however, I didn't have time to play him the first few days. I found time today and decided to give him a go. Much to my dismay, I did have to do a solo queue and roll with some random players, which as always, made me hate them ever so much more.

First about my tale with the randoms, first match I wanted to do a jungle Varus, so I set things up, and didn't lock in just incase our team comp sucked.  After I set up and got ready, a guy quick locks with Udyr and doesn't read the chat when I asked him to change his summoner spells, so I could jungle. In game he finally responds and then tries to defend his action by stating how he couldn't lane with smite, as soon as he said that, my team backed me up in telling him how I got all set up first for jungling. He brushed it off and we continued the match. After that we had Veigar mid and I was bot lane with Ashe, which we actually did a decent job laning bot against a solo Soraka who got abandoned by his team as two of them went mid; which was another Varus and Pantheon. As the match progressed Udyr started barking orders to the team, while charging in at them with low HP, and just in bad moments - he ended up feeding their key players. The match dragged on for awhile, but we did eventually lose, Udyr still defending his tactics of running in low and diving towers against multiple people, suffice to say, I think we could have won that if he stopped doing that. 

Second match was lovely from the beginning - Sion left after buying his starting items and never returned. I ended up soloing top lane as Ryze took mid and Kat and Jax went bot. Starting out things seemed alright, and we were going at a decent pace, but that crumbled when Ryze failed to call mia for the first time, allowing me to get ganked. When i questioned him on it, Kat proceeded to say that it was impossible to call mias on 4v5s, which made no sense, then he went on about how it is impossible to win a 4v5, another error. From then on the team never worked together, and we ended up getting pushed rather hard, usually when we were fighting among ourselves in chat.

Third and final match was a bit better, I was actually able to jungle, and ganked when I could - usually resulting in a kill. About mid way in Jarvin started trying to bad mouth me about how I wasn't ganking bot enough and other crap. When I did end up trying to help him again, and he died while running after Brand and getting ulted, he blamed me for his death - sorry I didn't want to get killed as well, but at least I netted two kills there. For a bit it did seem like we were going to lose, we didn't really work together, and when we got in team fights the team tended to all run in different directions while not focusing on one target. By end game though we shaped up and finally managed to do one heavy push resulting in the win.

Using Varus from all of those matches, despite the ones we lost, I actually grew quiet fond of him. The slow and snar skills that he has are very handy in taking down opponents and he is pretty easy to build, in my opinion. Jungling felt a bit slow on him, but still very viable, though the slow part may be in part due to my runes not really being suiting for a jungler as much as they are for AD/AP carries. But it is quite easy to see how good he is in team fights, especially when you shoot the group with your ult, and slow them after, that usually results in a few to all of the other team being screwed over. The ult also worked great as a get away when things started looking dicey and you and your teamate(s) needed a quick way to get out.  I did dive a bit away from his normal build, opting for things like Trinity Force to get a bit of HP/Slow/Attack Speed/ ect. It seemed to work well, at least from my limited plays with him.

What do you guys think of him so far? Also how do you build him normally? Do you stick with the recommended build, or do you have your own preference of items?

tl;dr - I still hate randoms, like Varus.
