Another week, another list of champions that have gone free. I know, not that clever, but when you do these weekly sometimes you run out of lines to say in the beginning, and saying the same thing every week just makes it dull. As was suspected from the path of never changing, after being out for a short time, Varus is now free-to-play, so those of you who didn't buy him, but want to give him a shot now can.

As always, I will give off the list of champions I like from this week, and then talk a little about a couple of them. This week champs that I do like playing; Master Yi, Alistar, Varus, Morgana, Riven, Graves, and Volibear. No, not Maokai or Lux, I don't play them enough to really have that strong of an opinion on them from my perspective. Out of the ones listed, I will comment on Varus, Master Yi, and Alistar.

Varus is one of the newer champions, if you didn't already know or skipped the first paragraph completely. He is a high damage dealing archer who can also be a bit of a pain by slowing and snaring opponents. This offers him a bit of escapability, and a lot of value in team fights, as you can hold down and stop those who may try to get away or to give a little time for the team to really focus on who they need to. Usually I do build him high damage, but try to give him some HP for a bit more survivability, most of the time by mixing in items like trinity force or frozen mallet, depending on what the other team comp is.

Master Yi. I remember I gave quite a hard time on the whole AP Yi thing, and even got called out on it, which actually in turn made me try it out and kind of (not fully) like it. AP version can do decent amounts of damage while tanking like no other. I still like AD Yi a bit more, since he isn't as reliant on his team to help him out, or being a two trick pony (I know wrong use of that saying), but I have come to respect the AP Yi a bit more, especially when I got to the point where I was healing more than Tryndamere was critting me for per second, that felt good, and made me laugh a good while.

And now finally Alistar, I feel he is a bit under-appreciated from the total lack of how much I see him in game, but he can be quite fun, and be a game turner if you play him right. I remember one time we were losing fairly badly, and got stuck with just the base tower left. As I was playing Alistar I stayed to defend as our Pantheon went to push lanes. Each time their team tried to come in, we did the same thing; knocking them up in the air, then shoving them into the pool. Of course with the cooldown on the skills, I couldn't do it continuously, but it was enough to bide time an allow us the chance to win. Also one more thing, his free skin looks cool, especially compared to that yellow recolor, so use it, it's free.
