Alright, just to dive away from the mmo scene a bit, you may not know it but I am almost primarily a console gamer, and don't play mmos as much as I lead on. Okay, I do when I need to write on them or play with friends, but most of the time I am rockin single player mode. But back to the topic at hand, there seems to be a more recent trend of game companies selling games only to have some of the content, aka finished dlc, locked on the actual disc and have gamers pay to access it.

So that means you bought the disc with the game, but you don't get everything on it, pay an extra fee to get access to the DLC that was already done, but they want to bleed a bit extra money at you. To me that is a bit worse that Day 1 released DLC, as it is multple DLCs already on the disc. One of the more notorious of games that did it recently was Capcom with Street Fighter. They even went so far as to reaching out to the community to catch those who accessed the DLC from their game and played it online without paying the extra fee. I mean, I understand how it would be an attractive prospect to companies by saving on bandwidth by having it on the disc already, but it just feels a bit wrong, you know?

The reason I came with this topic now is a game I have which is Risen 2, which is guilty of the same crime, by having DLC already on the Disc, and they caught wind of players accessing it when they're not suppose to. So how are they going by to rectify this? By releasing a new patch for the game with a stealth fix to block player's access to the DLC. They don't actually openly tell you they do it, but they did. So a bit of a heads up, if you got the game, and made it so you have access to the DLC, be sure not to update it to the latest version. Yea, I know it sounds bad when I say it like that, but I honestly think they deserve to have stuff like that if they want to do those types of things to their gamers.

So yea, I know not all of you will agree with my views on that, I am fine with that. In fact I do want to know what you think on the matter of day one dlc, or releasing a game with dlcs locked on the disc.
