Star Conflict hits Open Beta
Star Conflict, which is a new space themed MMO, has announced that it has hit Open Beta for all who want to participate. Also good news for those who are interested in these types of games, but never heard of this one, it will be free to play. The only bad thing about the announcement of that model is that they haven't said much on how the free to play will work, so it is an unknown at this point, they have said however that there won't be any limitations placed for those who go free, they just need to spend longer training their character .
The game is also PvP based, meaning that there is no PvE at all and works in a lobby based system which pits two teams against each other in a 16 vs.16 man fight.
As for features in the game, this is what they have release
Phantasy Star Online 2 Heading West Early 2013
With the recent release of Phantasy Star Online 2 in Japan, Sega has already been talking about heading west with their new game, the date? Well, it isn't set in stone yet, but they're planning on an early 2013 release for the game to both the EU and NA regions. This is good news as it was speculated by fans that it would a) take several years to pass over or b) not come over at all. But since the release is scheduled only a year away, it means you won't have to wait too long for you to play and understand what is being said in game.
The game is for both the PC players and PSVita players alike, it also is the first in the series to go completely free to play, at least in the Japanese version, where all you do is download it and you can pay for things like character slo
War of Roses Beta Registration - Find 5 Friends
War of Roses is a new game being made by Paradox Interactive, the same people who made Mount & Blade : Warband (Great game) and With Fire and Sword (Meh game). The good news is that the game is reaching the beta registration page, and before you tell me, I know it started a few days ago, but I just found out about it today.
How they're going about it is similar to the way the crew who made Salem went about their beta registration; find five friends to sign up with your link, and you get guaranteed access. Not a bad deal, is it? The only real hitch is that it seems they require you to have a steam account, and ask for what I believe is your username for Steam. So if you're not a big fan of Steam and don't want to use it, you may want to pass on this game.
End of Nations Beta Sign-ups are live
The new military sim from Trion, the same people who made Rift, has opened it's beta sign-ups to the public. You can sign up using the link above and you can wait and see if you will be in the beta which starts in around 14 days. Some nice news for those interested, is that the beta is not limited to those living in the NA region, but is open to pretty much anyone who wants to try, and is lucky enough to get into the beta.
For those curious about the game, here is a snip from the main site giving a run-down of the game:

They come out at night
Alright this is a part joke part serious post, mostly joke. But this is from something that a friend of mine and I found out that typically happens when we queue up, especially lately. Normally we catch each-other online during the night and end up playing a few matches of LoL at around 12-2 AM EST. (EST being our timezone) That is generally where all of the fail random stories I tell you guys come from, and when we generally get the either those who can't play at level 30 to those who don't know any English beyond general insults, which is evident in how they spam the same one a thousand times.
The past couple days though have been a bit better. Why? Well, we actually tried playing a few hours earlier, or during mid-day when we actually where both online at the same ti
Changes to come to Firefall
Before you ask, no I don't have any more keys to give out, when I do, I will make another post to give more of you guys a chance to grab one. Even if you just read what I write here, I do highly recommend watching the full video so you can get a better grasp of what is going on and hear it from what they say, not just what I write here. Moving on, the development team has been working on the game and trying to get feedback from the fans to figure out how they can make the game more fun, so much that they invited several players to come to the office to see what changes they have planned with the overall development of the game, and actually give them a chance to play head to head with some of the devs, which is pretty cool since I never really hear of companies going that far with their fans.
One of the bigger changes that players want, and that the team has heard, is to make the game more skill based. This in turn has made them take a really good look at the different aspects of th
Darius Patch Preview: Gameplay Changes
Wow, with how busy I have been lately (aren't I always?), I completely missed out on the new champion being released, so I didn't get to cover that. Sorry for that mistake, but I will try to get back on track, not by going back and covering old news, no, but by trying to keep up to date with the current one, well for this one I am a few days late on, but this is the patch preview for changes to come in the game with the Darius update.
One of the first changes they're making is to Summoners Rift, they're revamping the map and changing how it will effect players, especially those who are playing it on mid to low settings. With the new look, this will also improve those players frame rates in the game, and give them a bit better experience than clicking a skill, waiting for it to cast, then being dead because of lag. So now unless your internet provider is from Ethiopia, or the server really is lagging, you don't have an excuse to blame it on lag. Okay, that sounded

Disc locked DLC is stupid
Alright, just to dive away from the mmo scene a bit, you may not know it but I am almost primarily a console gamer, and don't play mmos as much as I lead on. Okay, I do when I need to write on them or play with friends, but most of the time I am rockin single player mode. But back to the topic at hand, there seems to be a more recent trend of game companies selling games only to have some of the content, aka finished dlc, locked on the actual disc and have gamers pay to access it.
So that means you bought the disc with the game, but you don't get everything on it, pay an extra fee to get access to the DLC that was already done, but they want to bleed a bit extra money at you. To me that is a bit worse that Day 1 released DLC, as it is multple DLCs already on the disc. One of the
Something to record a game plus Skype video
So recently I did a press tour for Divina, but I ran into a bit of a snag. See, I recorded the whole session with FRAPS hoping to get the audio from both the game and the Skype conversation. I know it usually got both sides when I did record while chatting with people on Vent, but was hoping it would on this case as well.....It didn't. Instead it just recorded the audio from my end while leaving the whole conference from Skype out of the loop, which made things kind of inconvenient since I did have to go completely by memory for the article, and I couldn't share the video in its integrity with you all.
This has made me want to ask you all something, do you know of a program that would allow me to record Skype convos while recording the game at the same time? Or do you know of a way to get FRAPS to do both? The closest solution I saw for FRAPS on a quick search was to use Virtual Audio Cable to emulate it and trick the program into using it, but the program isn't f
