The Death of Exteel - Rip 2007 - 2010

Exteel was a fast paced mecha shooting game where players could customize their mechas with many weapons, skills, and armor parts. On July 27th NCsoft annouced that they are shutting down Exteel. The Exteel community has already realized that Exteel was falling, but still sad to see it die. On September 1st Exteel servers will be shut for good.
Before that time players are able to purchase anything in the store and play around with it for 1 credit.  Nearly 1 copper if you converted it to WoW currency.

To players who purchased 100$+ worth of coins are given 1 Aion game card and 1 CoH game card. They can be exchange for 2 Aion cards or 2 CoH cards as well. Players who spent 1-100$ get 1 Aion game card which can be exchanged for a CoH card. When Exteel announced that they were closing down I feel disappointed. The game has a lot of potential with a massive update launched a while ago with revamped Last Stand, new UI, Operators, and fixed point system. So far i haven't seen a mecha game that can compete with Exteel. Both Cosmic Break and Gundam SD seems like a much different style. Exteel felt more like a true mecha game more like what you see when watching Gundam.

Balancing of the game was not all too bad. Players of the community would complain about an OP weapon sometimes, but the values get changed later on. Me being a PvE lover played more of Last Stand and less of the other PvP modes such as Capture the flag or Team Deathmatch. Starting out the game I did play those modes a lot more and though they were pretty good. Maps aren't too creative but they're good enough and having a low gravity stage made it feel much more like a mecha game. BGM was great for modes like Capture the flag. However some of the BGM wasn't that great for example like Last Stand.

Armor sets were diverse and truely captures the feel of mechas. Customization was not too bad since you had armor parts already and you could colour them. There weren't any decals or colours for secondary colours on the parts though.
Even though levels gave stats and such they weren't all so overpowering and Coin users were on equal groudn to credit users most of the time. Farming weapon levels to gain special abilities such as more overheat or more splash count was not fun. There are 5 levels of upgrades each much harder to achieve than the last.

Skills were fun to execute and watch and often can be frustrating when turned against you. Skills such as Meteor Strike II might be a bit boring just shooting missles out of your booster however still feels powerful to be able to obliterate your enemies so easily. Weapons consists of Rifles, Shotguns, SMGs, Swords, Spears, Shields, Rectifiers, Rockets, and Cannons. Each series had it's own unique traits such as Rifles can lock on farther, but can't shoot close ranged, Rockets can't lock on, but you can move while you're still using it.

Goodbye Exteel i'll never forget you as one of the best Mecha games i've played.
