Blacklight Retribution: Closed Beta Phase 3 Extended
Category: Default Game: Blacklight Retribution Posted on Dec 21, 2011 12:02 am 1093Views 0CommentsIn today’s gaming industry, especially with First Person Shooter(FPS) games, death comes in many shapes and forms. Zombie Studios is not afraid to take advantage of the current and ride the wave with Blacklight Retribution. As you may have already read or seen before, the developers of Blacklight Retribution take the first step in introducing a futuristic MMOFPS with a variety of customization features that could very well be the beginning of a beautiful relationship between players and gaming. If you have not read about such a topic before, feel free to read it before hand, as the customization features are a great part of this game. Blacklight Retribution recently entered Closed Beta Phase 3 on December 1, 2011 and was scheduled to end on December 15. However, the developers decided to leave their US East and EU servers open until January 15, 2012! That’s one whole month of gratuitous playtime provided by the wonderful folks at Zombie Studios. This means that folks who have been playing since the start of this phase can continue, and even better, folks who haven’t gotten to try out the game yet now have one more month before the end of the testing phase. And there are tons of reasons why you should try this game out…but let’s just start with the customization.
Blacklight Retribution offers many different types of weapons, and for each weapon there are many different types of parts such as the barrel, muzzle, scope, stock, or even a silly little keychain to attach to your weapon. I personally like a burst-fire rifle equipped with an angry blockhead for those “face-palm” moments.
Customization is a powerful tool for players simply because it allows them to utilize parts to complement their play style. If you want a Submachine Gun that fires electric rounds, they have it. If you want a Revolver attached with a sniper scope, they have it. If you want to turn the tide of the battle with a giant robot, they definitely have it. Not only can you customize your weapons, you can even customize what your personal weapons depot may carry. Weapon depots are similar to, I hesitate to say, kill streaks, except they use Command Points gained during gameplay instead of kill streaks. From full healing to full ammo resupply, flamethrowers to airstrike designators, auto-turrets to hard suits, Blacklight Retribution is not a game that will leave you with generic ways to kill an opponent. Honestly, I prefer killing an opponent with a hard suit instead of a care package, it’s much more intimidating.
Although Closed Beta Phase 3 has been extended for another month, this still means you have a limited time to try the game as a tester for that extra satisfaction. So what are you waiting for? You can still get out there and start fragging, Alienware still has many beta keys for participants who find an interest in Blacklight Retribution.
