Sword of the New World: Granado Espada hasn't made much of a dent in the World of Warcraft-dominated MMORPG gamescape since its mid-July release, and rather than wait for it to slowly fade from public consciousness, publisher K2 Networks announced today that it is dropping its monthly subscription plan. Previously, gamers could play for free up until level 20, at which point a paid subscription was required for further advancement. With the restrictions dropped, players can now freely adventure across the world of Granado Espada and build up to the top level of 100 -- all without a monthly fee.

"We launched Sword of the New World as a Free2Play title -- free to download, free to try, and free to play up to level 20. We are extremely excited about this title... but Free2Play up to level 20 just isn't enough," said Joshua Hong, CEO and founder of K2 Networks. "Thanks to the community supporting this game, we are now able to offer the same Free2Play model as all of our other titles."

Sword of the New World will maintain its Cash Merchant feature, allowing players to use real-world currency to purchase rare in-game items for a "premium experience." Subscribers who have already paid for another month will be reimbursed with 1000 gold in the game, as well as access to the three unique playable characters (Adelina Esperanza, Lisa Lynway, and M'boma), a $40 value. Sword of the New World: Granado Espada can be downloaded now from the official website.
