There is a weird truth about what playing an MMO can do for an individual. For some it wont do anything at all which is why the modifier "can" was used, but for others depending on the game it can do great things. Some games would increase reaction time depending on the battle system. If for example they had a good combo system where you had to catch a moving bar and hit a key within a certain amount of time or something along those lines. Most games that have good system in which would increase the reflex time within a player rest within the dancing realm. Like Audition where you have to hit the right key at the right time. It's more of an advanced, or rather a different version of DDR(Dance Dance Revolution)

Now remember I'm only stating it could possibly help with reaction time, not saying that it absolutely will.

However we must move on from that example, so I may further explain what playing MMO's for so long has actually done for me in a way that benefits me, or has benefited me in some sort of way. To be very honest it was the communities within the games I have played. In my every day life i distance myself from the people around me that I do not know that well simply because I do not like having a lot of friends. To me having a lot of friends just leads to unwanted drama. Say if one person does not like the other and they are both your friends you are stuck right there in the middle, and that my friends can get old really fast.

Yet while playing MMO's I have found games that had such a welcoming community that I couldn't help but become friends with people. Yes at first it is true that I did stay to myself a lot, but I had Bunny to help me open up, and once I started to I realized that it was not such a bad thing to have a larger group of friends. It just means that more people like you.

So for me MMO's have slowly made me less anti-social just by the friendships that I have made through the games I have played. Lunia helped a great deal because although there are a lot of stuck up people on there, there are a lot more friendly people than anything else. So in this way it was a psychological benefit.

All in all MMO's and other games in general can have some sort of benefit while others may not actually help in any sort of way at all. The fact is games are meant for enjoyment so if they help people in the process that's simply a bonus. However if you make a game just for the benefit of others and it works kudos to you. Moreover lets just all relax and enjoy our games
